Dexter: New Blood - Season 1
Dexter: New Blood reignited the story of everyone’s favorite anti-hero, Dexter Morgan, picking up years after the controversial ending of the original series. Set in a snowy, secluded town, the show introduced Dexter’s son, Harrison, and kept audiences on edge as they wondered whether he would follow in his father’s dark footsteps. The series not only addressed some of the unresolved issues from the original finale but also delivered a fresh, suspenseful narrative that captivated both old and new fans.
This project held special significance for me, as my career began with an internship at Digital Kitchen Chicago, the studio behind the iconic title sequence of the original Dexter series. Returning to the Dexter universe with New Blood felt like a full-circle moment, as if it were meant to be. The show’s snowy environment stood in stark contrast to the sun-drenched Miami setting of the original series, creating a chilling and atmospheric backdrop for Dexter’s new chapter. My work included crafting the eerie snowy ashes of Dexter’s burnt victims, which drifted like snowflakes over the wintry town. Another highlight was blending a CG and live-action glass break effect, adding visceral intensity to a pivotal fight sequence with one of Dexter’s soon-to-be victims.
