Severance: Season 1
Little did I know when working on this show that it would turn out to be one of my - and many others - favorite shows of all time. This mind-bending, emmy-award winning series demanded VFX that felt just sterile enough to be unsettling—digital stitches to extend endless hallways, time-warps and camera tricks to sync "innie" and "outie" performances, and paint work so clean it’d make Lumon’s ethics team blush. My equal parts favorite and un-favorite challenge? Stitching together 2 plates - one of a bridge, one of a car - shot in completely different settings, at different depths and scales, different trajectories, and the car was driving up a hill near the end of the footage. After a lot of re-timing, hand tracking, and re-animating, I think the end result was convincing enough, but then it was time to make the entire shot feel cold and wintery with the help of a lot of snowy DMP and color grading. It was one of those shots that, if I did my job correctly, you would never guess was such a heavily composited shot.
