Verizon: The Reset

Verizon’s The Reset commercial, directed by Doug Liman, explores the frustration of a world slowed down by lag and interruptions. My role included designing glitch effects that mirrored the fragmented, jarring visuals of video game lag, creating a visual metaphor for the disconnect we’ve all experienced. These effects were carefully integrated into the narrative, contrasting the chaos of a glitch-filled reality with the smooth, seamless experience promised by Verizon’s 5G. It was a rewarding challenge to blend live-action footage with CG elements and glitch animations, helping to tell a story that felt both relatable and aspirational.

Funny note about this one: This was one of the rare projects where we actually had quite a bit of time to really play and experiment with different styles of glitch and lag effects. During production we played with so many ideas that on more than once occasion, we accidentally started painting and cleaning up other artists glitch experiments thinking they were mistakes that needed fixed. This was one of the most fun projects I think I’ve ever been a part of and we were lucky enough to have a truly fantastic team at MPC New York.
